Shake-up at Galfar continues as finance chief goes
Firm appoints acting finance head until permanent recruit is in place
The shake-up of management at Omani contractor Galfar Engineering & Contracting has continued with news that its chief financial officer, Mr. S. Muthukrishnan, is stepping down.
The firm, whose founder and managing director Dr. P Mohamed Ali stepped down in January after being convicted on corruption charges, has also seen the chief of its internal audit department stand down in April.
In a brief statement issued to the Muscat Securities Market earlier this week, the firm's chief executive officer Dr Hans Erlings, said Muthukrishnan will stand down at the end of the month and that Sangam Bharti has been appointed as acting CFO until a new appointment is made.
Dr. Ali is one of a string of businessmen who have been caught up in a high-profile campaign by Oman's government to root out corruption in the country, which also recently claimed the former head of Consolidated Contractors Corp's operations in the country.
However, the Galfar head has maintained his innocence and has indicated that he intends to appeal against his conviction.
