Jeddah Municipality has launched a 110,000m² marine park project to be built 40km outside the city at Dhahban on the shores of the Red Sea.

The project includes a wide range of multi-recreational facilities including a football playground and children's entertainment areas in addition to restaurants and other facilities, according to an Arab News report.

Landscaping and greenery will cover 45,000m² of the project’s total area, and will include two large water fountains.

The project has been under study for the last four years.

Dhahban is a popular picnic spot, with many visiting the area to enjoy local eateries serving fresh fish.
