Southern runway renovation completed five days ahead of schedule

The extensive runway enhancement project at Dubai International (DXB) is progressing on schedule and is well on track to be completed by 20 July.

Work began on 1 May and is set to take 80 days to complete, although the work on the airport's southern runway was finished five days ahead of schedule

Around 180,000 tonnes of new asphalt is needed to recover the northern runway, while 65,000 tonnes of asphalt and 75,000m3 of concrete was needed for southern runway and taxiway improvements, alongside 3,000 new runway lights.
