Oman project awards $93.5mn pipeline contract
Deal for supply of Duqm Economic Zone’s 230km gas pipeline project
Oman Gas Company has awarded a $93.5mn (OMR 36mn) contract for the supply of a gas pipeline project that will serve the Duqm Economic Zone.
Mansoor Al Abdali, acting general manager for engineering at Oman Gas Company, said that the 36-inch pipeline will run for 230 kilometres.
Al Abdali added that the tender for the construction works will be announced soon, with the entire project expected to be ready in 2018.
The Duqm refinery is likely to be the first gas consumer at the zone, according to Al Abdali.
Oman Gas Company also announced that the internal and external coating for the pipes will be provided locally in order to help stimulate the development of local industries.
