NEWS, Projects, Dubai, Rta

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the construction of internal roads in nine residential communities stretching 193km at a cost of about AED400mn ($108.9mn) spanning Hatta, Al Quoz 2, 3 and 4, Khawaneej 1, and Barsha 1, 2 and 3.

These projects are part of the first and second batch of the five-year plan (2012-2016) endorsed by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, covering the pavement of internal roads in several residential districts of the Emirate of Dubai at a total cost of about one billion dirham.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA executive director, said: “The plan underscores the keenness of His Highness to improve and upgrade internal roads to meet the demographic and urban expansion in the Emirate."

Al Tayer added: "Work is up-and-running in internal road projects at six residential areas, and works are expected to be completed this year in the construction of roads at Al Warqaa 1, 2, 3 and 4. Works are set for completion in the first half of next year in the construction of internal roads at Muhaisnah 2, Barsha South 1, and collector roads at Barsha 2.

“In the last quarter of this year, the RTA will release a tender for constructing internal roads at Mamzer, Nahda 1 and Oud Muteena 2."
