du store in Dubai wins LEED Platinum certification
Certification makes shop the UAE's greenest telecom retail outlet
Du’s signature shop in Mirdif City Centre, Dubai, has been awarded a LEED Platinum certification for its environmentally conscious design and construction.
The shop, which was only recently inaugurated, scored 90 out of a possible 110 points for the certification, making it the UAE’s greenest telecom retail outlet.
This is the second du shop to have achieved the LEED Platinum certification, following in the footsteps of the company's green shop in Fujairah City Centre.
Abdulhadi Alalyak, vice president - asset management and corporate administration, du, said: "Our newest du shop is the embodiment of our commitment to adding life to life through services that bring more convenience, while adhering to our sustainability values.”
“It sets an example of the possibilities of bringing sustainability into retail, in ways that will add more value by improving customer experience,” Alalyak said. “The launch of our second LEED Platinum certified shop is in line with our support of the UAE leadership's vision of a more sustainable future for the UAE."
Besides being located in the LEED Gold certified Mirdif City Centre, the new du shop incorporates a number of notable green features, which include having all of its lights controlled by motion sensors and the use of 100% Energy Star rated equipment.
du has displayed a strong commitment to sustainability, and has implemented initiatives across its business to achieve its sustainable goals. These include the installation of hybrid energy solutions in its base transceiver stations to cut back on fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions, e-billing to reduce paper consumption, etc.
