Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a $18mn (AED 65mn) contract for a project that will see the supply, installation and commission of surge protection devices for DEWA pumping stations located at Jebel Ali, Mushrif and Hatta.

The new project is part of DEWA’s strategic plan to increase the efficiency and reliability of its water supply networks in the Emirate.

“DEWA seeks to increase the productivity, operational efficiency and reliability of its water supply networks in all parts of Dubai as part of its efforts to advance sustainable development,” said H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

“The project assures the provision of uninterrupted water supply to support the current and future development needs of Dubai.”

The project is expected to be completed by June 2016.
