GCC lighting sector worth $2.5bn

UAE, Saudi Arabia are leading luminaries with 70% of local market

NEWS, Business

Saudi Arabia and the UAE dominate the GCC's lighting market, responsible for 70% of a sector valued at $2.5bn, according to consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan.

Demand for new lighting fixtures is expected to grow by around 8-10% a year, fuelled by the region's buoyant construction market.

The figures have been revealed ahead of this year's Light Middle East 2014 trade show, which is set to take place at Dubai's World Trade Centre between 3-5 November.

The event, organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt, is now in its 9th year.

Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, said: "Given the large number of infrastructural and developmental projects currently underway with many more in the pipeline, the GCC and wider Middle East represent a market of exciting potential and huge possibilities for the future.”
