Dubai's The Onyx to top out in November
Three-tower complex on Sheikh Zayed Road being built by ASGC
Structural work on the three towers being built at The Onyx development fronting Sheikh Zayed Road are likely to complete by November, according to Al Shafar General Contracting (ASGC).
The $354mn project, which sits next to Emaar Business Park in front of The Greens residential development, has a pair of 14-storey towers that will be used for a hotel (Tower 3) and an office block (Tower 1), and a 25-storey mixed-use tower (Tower 2) containing offices on the first 11 floors and residential units above.
These will all sit on a shared podium that will have 20 retail units, restaurants and a coffee shop.
Speaking during a site visit that appears in issue 529 of Construction Week, ASGC's project manager said the structure of the office tower should be the first to complete by the end of next month.
"At Tower 2, which is the highest one (closest to Emaar Business Park), our plan is to complete the structure by the end of November. In between, with Tower 3, our plan is to complete by the end of October."
He said that there are currently around 1,300 workers on site between ASGC's staff and subcontractors. This is expected to peak at 2,000 in November as work on internal areas ramps up.
The entire project is earmarked for completion by Q4 2015.
