Dubai Municipality will host a seminar on the issues of wind engineering in the design of tall buildings on 20th May.

The seminar comes as part of the civic body's initiative to offer a continuous learning environment for local architects and consultant engineers.

Commenting on the significance of this seminar, Khalid Mohammed Saleh, director of the buildings department at Dubai Municipality, said, "We are clearly living in a very interesting period in the history of high-rise buildings - a period in which the Gulf region is playing a key role in setting new challenges and best industry practice in civil engineering."

Saleh noted that wind engineering has moved from being a 'checking' exercise to become a vital tool for designers.

Stefano Cammelli of BMT Fluid Mechanics will discuss the application of international codes of practice generally in use in the Gulf region.

Meanwhile Dr. Adel Stitou will discuss the use of wind tunnel testing in the design of tall buildings.

The seminar will take place at City Hall from 9am.
