Heriot-Watt mastering real estate in Dubai

The Heriot-Watt University in Dubai is set to introduce a new masters course in real estate management and development in September.

The Heriot-Watt University in Dubai is set to introduce a new masters course in real estate management and development in September.

University officials have said the move was prompted by demand for professionals with expertise in the property industry, in which real estate development and investment is leading the economy.

The new program will be supervised by the university's School of the Built Environment. The course was established in 2002 at Heriot-Watt in the UK.

"The decision to introduce the real estate management programme in Dubai is based on student demand and the market need," said Ammar Kaka, professor of construction economics and management, School of the Built Environment.

The program will be accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rics). Subjects include appraisal and valuation, asset management, real estate economics and planning and property law.
