UAE-based developer Connection Real Estate is in the final stages of planning the 'green' Connection Towers that will be located in the Danet Abu Dhabi community.

The towers, to be certified under the Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system are 21-storeyed twin towers to be built on a podium.

One tower will be exclusively for commercial purposes while the other will be mixed-use, offering office and residential space.

"Our company is playing a key role in promoting and upholding the concept of green building in line with Abu Dhabi's vision by offering solutions that create the least impact on the environment," said Khalifa Khouri, vice chairman of Connection Real Estate.

He said the company's focus was to achieve the highest possible Leed rating for the towers.

"We are working towards getting the first Leed certification in Abu Dhabi, and hopefully in the process, help transform our building sector into an environmentally-sound industry.

We recognise that adopting environment-friendly practices in the building industry now is actually building for our future," said Khouri.

The Abu Dhabi Government is promoting green construction methods and clean energy generation which are geared towards environmentally-friendly living.
