Property hunters were invited to view plans for new homes on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.

A one-bedroom apartment costs $806,000 and won't be complete until 2017, but the beach-front homes have already garnered plenty of interest.

The one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, lofts and townhouses will be situated at Mamsha Al Saadiyat (Saadiyat Walk) which is a stone's throw from new museums, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

They went on sale to UAE nationals on Saturday and expats on Monday.

Abu Dhabi's Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) launched what is the first residential development in Saadiyat Cultural District at Cityscape Global last week.

The 1.4km beachfront mixed-use project will feature accommodation, retail, dining and entertainment features.

Work is set to start in Q1 2015.
