Dubai firm to develop Dublin student accommodation
Global Student Accommodation says plan part of $315m investment move
A Dubai-based provider of student accommodation and a property management and investment group have submitted plans to develop a €41m ($51.8m) student accommodation scheme in Dublin.
Global Student Accommodation (GSA), which has headquarters in Dubai, and Dublin-based The Creedon Group, have lodged an application with Dublin’s city council to develop a 2.5 acre site in Dublin into a mixed use scheme, which will include a 400-bed student residence with retail, restaurant and office space for local businesses.
“GSA will fund, develop and operate the student accommodation on a long-term basis while The Creedon Group intends to complete the development by mid-2017, having it available for occupancy by students and commercial concerns in September 2017,” a spokesman told the Irish Independent.
GSA already runs similar purpose-built schemes in Dubai, central London, Tokyo, China and Australia.
GSA Europe chief executive Tim Mitchell told the Irish Times that the project is part of an overall €250m ($316m) investment plan for Dublin.
