New RICS guide features strategic FM case studies
Case studies include the use of strategic FM at the Royal BAM Group
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has released its newest edition of RICS Strategic Facilities Management (FM) case studies, a guide that explains how businesses, large and small, can make the most of strategic FM to enhance their performances.
Through a series of case studies, which range from businesses including The Royal BAM Group to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the RICS document brings strategic FM to life and explains it using tangible, real life examples.
Rory Murphy FRICS, commercial director, VINCI Facilities and board member of the RICS Professional Group for FM, said, “In this second edition of RICS case studies, we review a diverse range of stories across both the public and private sector and from around the globe.”
“The important message that permeates all of these case studies is that facilities management needs to have a place at the heart of an organisation and be fully embedded and absolutely focused on delivering the mission and vision for that business,” Murphy said.
David Sharp, managing director, International Workplace, who drafted the guide, said, “We are seeing increased demand for a consistent approach to facilities management among clients operating in international markets.”
“We were again delighted to work with RICS on this second series of case studies that both reflect the growth of FM as a recognised professional discipline and we hope to illustrate the approach being adopted by leading organisations to address the challenges and opportunities of economic, social and technological change,” Sharp said.
