The Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi (Tadweer) has emerged a winner at the Middle East Municipalities Excellence Awards 2014 for promoting excellent leadership practices through leveraging cutting-edge technology.

The award recognises Tadweer's outstanding achievements in facilitating the seamless migration of conventional government services to an electronic and smart platform.

Eng. Ahmed Suwaidi, senior projects officer at Tadweer, received the award at a grand ceremony held on the sidelines of the fourth GCC Municipalities and Smart Cities Conference in Dubai.

Commenting on the award, H.E. Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi, general manager, Tadweer, said: "We are honoured to be selected for this prestigious award. This is an acknowledgment of our ongoing efforts at ensuring long-term sustainable development in Abu Dhabi.”

“The recognition reinforces our resolve to deliver effective waste management solutions and integrate cutting-edge solutions to our present and future projects,” he added. “We also take this occasion to commend our leadership's vision and keenness in supporting public sector departments as they expand their scope of work towards achieving the nation's strategic goals."

Initiated by the Middle East Excellence Institute, the Middle East Municipalities Excellence Awards recognise the achievements of a developmental municipality that is committed to working with citizens and groups within the community, while setting international standards in excellence to remain globally competitive.

Tadweer, a key government entity mandated to oversee Abu Dhabi's integrated waste management practices, plays a vital role in enhancing the UAE's credentials as a leader in green energy technology.
