New York builds tallest residential block in west
Manhattan tower will be taller than the Empire State Building
The tallest residential building in the west is nearly complete.
New York construction workers have poured concrete for the top floor of 432 Park Avenue .
Once complete in 2015, the 96-storey tower in Manhattan will feature luxury apartments starting at $16.95mn.
At 425.5m the tower will be taller than the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.
"We are proud to have created a New York City landmark that can be seen throughout all five boroughs, and which will enhance our city's iconic skyline," said developer, Harry Macklowe.
The world's tallest residential block is Princess Tower in Dubai Marina at 413m but it will soon be over taken by another residential tower currently under construction in Mumbai called World One which will be 441m.
