Jordan looks to deepen ties with UK construction

Kingdom meets ambassador to discuss sharing more engineering expertise

Jordan's Minister of Public Works and Housing, Sami Halaseh, has met the Kingdom's British ambassador Peter Millett to discuss ways of boosting co-operation with British companies in the construction sector.

According to the Jordan News Agency, the meeting, which took place ahead of a meeting of the Arab-British Economic Forum due to take place from today, saw Halaseh providing an overview of the ministry's activities, which including designing and overseeing the construction of government buildings as well as directly overseeing the housing sector.

Halaseh is also chairman of the board of directors of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation and of the Jordanian National Building Council.

Millett, meanwhile, said that efforts would be made to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the construction sector. In particular, he said there would be a focus on the provision of engineering expertise in areas such as renewable energy, energy conservation and traffic safety.
