Tadweer hosts educational workshop at Taweya 2014
Event was held at ADNEC from October 20-22, 2014
Tadweer, the Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi, participated in the fourth edition of the National Show for Society Awareness and Humanitarian Services, Taweya 2014, by hosting an educational workshop to raise awareness on the importance of waste segregation at source.
At the event, which was held at ADNEC from 20-22 October, Tadweer also conducted awareness lectures at his exhibition space to educate people on best practices in the segregation of common household waste, highlighting the benefits of reducing, reusing and recycling waste.
Khaled Al Bloushi, public awareness section head at Tadweer, said: “Tadweer is working relentlessly to create an enabling environment that supports our long-term economic and sustainability goals of achieving a safe and healthy environment in Abu Dhabi.”
“Our efforts are in line with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 that seeks to position the capital as a leading world city in environment and sustainability,” Al Bloushi said. “This workshop is in line with Tadweer's priority to develop and implement awareness programs that highlight the three R's of waste management. Through such initiatives, we aim to engage the community and enhance public health and safety standards in the UAE.”
Fatimah Ahmad Al Harmoudi, public awareness officer, Tadweer, added: "Increased waste production leads to greater environmental impact. This educational workshop has provided an important learning opportunity for everyone involved on the importance of ensuring cleanliness and maintaining the aesthetic appearance of the city."
Tadweer is the key government entity responsible for all aspects of integrated waste management in Abu Dhabi including the development of systems as well as collection, maintenance, transportation, operation and processing of waste in a safe, efficient and economically viable manner.
