Motor City to be built in Doha

Will be home to car showrooms, garages and other related services.


A Motor City is to open in Doha, Qatar in 2019.

The $1.5bn project will be home to used car showrooms, workshops, maintenance centres, car rental services, driving schools and other related services.

There will also be a race track and other sports activities along with services such as banks, car insurance businesses and offices for the Ministry of Interior, Civil Defence and Ministry of Municipality.

It will contain commercial units, two hotels, staff housing for families, workers' accommodation and a driving school.

Barwa Real Estate Group has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP) to lease out about 1.15mn m2 of land to develop and run the project for 30 years, based on the BOT (build, operate, transfer) system.

Motor City will be established at Rawdat Rashid, a suburb along the Salwa Road and across Aqua Park.
