Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a AED108mn ($29.4mn) contract to supply, extend, and launch a 16km main water distribution network between Jebel Ali and Al Quoz.

"The project includes extending the 1,200mm Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) water transmission pipeline by a further 16km: from Jebel Ali, through Al Khail Road, to the main pumping station in Al Quoz,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“It also includes a remote control and monitoring system to enhance transmission capacity between Jebel Ali and the main pumping stations in Al Quoz. The project also includes connecting the main transmission lines in different locations to increase water flow, ensure continuous supply, and increase pressure to meet increasing demand in those areas according to approved plans."

Al Tayer noted that the project will be completed within 24 months.
