Two Singapore companies – the CPG Corp subsidiary CPG FM and Keppel FMO, a subsidery of Keppel Integrated Engineering – have their eye on the Middle East FM market - reported The Business Times.
Jeffrey Chua, managing director, CPG FM said: “In the short to medium term, the company is keen to provide FM consultancy, including technical audit and due diligence, asset management services, energy and environmental management services and a professional FM training programme in the Middle East.”
Keppel FMO is currently providing FM expertise to the existing terminal building at Doha International Airport and training existing staff for the new terminal building at the new Doha International Airport.
“Several other airports have expressed interests in having Keppel FMO as their partners as well. We are evaluating such opportunites,” said Goh Hai Kok, general manager, Keppel FMO.
Keppel has also recently won contracts worth US$1.7 billion (AED62.4 billion) from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture in Qatar for the engineering, procurement and construction of an integrated solid waste management facility. They will also operate and maintain the facility for 20 years.
With a recent report estimating the FM market will be worth US$892 billion (AED3.3 trillion), it is not surprising international companies are looking at setting up FM companies here.
