Amec Foster Wheeler wins Oman oil terminal deal
UK-based firm will undertake front-end engineering design of the Ras Markaz Crude Oil Park Project
Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract by Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO) for the front-end engineering design of the Ras Markaz Crude Oil Park project in Oman.
Located 70km south of the Port of Duqum on the Wusta Coast, the Ras Markaz project involves the phased development of a terminal designed to hold about 200 million barrels of crude oil. The value of the deal has not been disclosed by either party.
The first phase, for approximately 25 million barrels’ capacity, is planned to be on stream by the end of 2018.
Roberto Penno, Amec Foster Wheeler Group President for Asia, Middle East, Africa & Southern Europe, said: “We have an excellent and long-standing reputation in Oman and are already working on other key investments in the country. We are delighted to be part of this strategic project.”
In November UK-based engineering and construction group Amec completed its acquisition of Foster Wheeler in a $3.3bn deal.
