District cooling service provider Empower has announced its attendance of the 28th Campus Energy Conference of the International District Energy Association (IDEA).

Hosted by the 106-year old professional association, the three-day conference will focus on practices and strategies for the sustainability of the urban environment of educational institutions.

Commenting on the event, HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower said: "Educational institutions are like miniature cities, so any breakthrough in the energy or utilities field at campuses are valuable lessons for the rest of the district cooling industry. The IDEA Campus Energy Conference, therefore, is an ideal forum to discuss and debate the latest insights with our peers from around the world."

Under the theme Clean Energy for the Next Generation, the conference is expected to host up to 700 participants from universities, utilities and technology providers, from across the globe.

Bin Shafar added: "As an organisation that has long- standing expertise in the district cooling industry, IDEA has grown in depth, reach and scope because the industry has started to influence technologies such as smart- metering and real estate.

"We are confident in the growth of our sector and look forward to progressing on this journey with IDEA and other partner organisations."
