Atlas Copco has revealed plans to discontinue its Powercrusher business, spelling an end to the firm’s mobile crushing and screening lines.

Production will stop at the Atlas Copco plant in St Valentin, Austria, during the course of this year.

The manufacturer will arrange for the continuation of aftersales support for existing customers following the discontinuation of the products.

“We are discontinuing this business as it does not fit strategically for us,” said Johan Halling, president of Atlas Copco’s Mining and Rock Excavation Technique business area.

“We will ensure existing Powercrusher customers [continue] to have their equipment serviced in the best way,” he added.

Atlas Copco’s mobile crushing and screening products are designed primarily for use within the quarrying, civil engineering, and recycling sectors.

The Powercrusher business was responsible for the employment of 70 staff members, and its revenues in 2014 amounted to approximately $31.7m.
