Aurecon appoints new highways leader
El-Essnawi joins consulting practice from Aecon to concentrate on targeting road projects across the region
He will be based in Dubai and will focus on projects in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf countries.
Prior to joining Aurecon, El Essnawi was Aecom's highways and bridges director in the Middle East, where he was responsible for managing major highway projects including the Orbital Highway and Truck Road in Doha, Qatar, the King Abdullah Highway Extension in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the Al Khail Road in Dubai, UAE.
Ian Dudgeon, Aurecon unit manager for transport in the Middle East, said that the firm remained focused on the Middle East region. “Our focus is on roads, rail and transport planning and we are bringing in senior people such as Ahmed, who have a track record in the Middle East, to lead each of these areas," he said.
“We are looking forward to his contributions with great enthusiasm,” he added.
