SGB's head office awarded LEED Silver status
Formwork company's 63,000m2 Dubai Techno Park base gains sustainability accreditation
Formwork specialist SGB’s 63,000m2 facility at Techno Park, Jebel Ali, has been granted LEED Silver status by the US Green Building Council.
The facility, which represented an investment of over $17m, opened in the third quarter of 2013 after a 12-month build period. It serves as the regional base for SGB in the Middle East and includes warehouses, manufacturing and maintenance facilities, a storage yard and offices.
It is capable of handling in excess of 15,000 metric tons of scaffolding and formwork products per month and houses more than 2,000 staff.
Centin Baxter, regional logistics director of SGB International, said: "We at SGB International believe it is our corporate responsibility to ensure that our carbon footprint does not unnecessarily impact the environment.”
Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, chief commercial officer of Economic Zones World (EZW), the parent company of TechnoPark, said: “We are pleased to host a globally renowned industrial services company such as SGB at TechnoPark."
