GE Water & Process Technologies, a subsidiary of US-based General Electric (GE), announced that it has begun expansion construction on its regional Centre of Excellence in Dubai.

Located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, the water-related technology plant’s expansion will enhanced the onsite laboratory’s capabilities to support the company’s oil and gas customer base.

The 1,500m2 of expanded warehouse space to the 6,500m2 facility will also be utilised for onsite housing for GE’s fleet of mobile water treatment trailers. These vehicles can be deployed at a moment’s notice for emergencies, support or even for extended work projects. The expansion is expected to be completed within the next three months.

Commenting on the expansion, Bob Hultz, VP MENA for GE Water & Process Technologies, said: “The Centre marks one of our path-breaking investments in the region’s water processing sector. Serving customers across the region, we are now further enhancing it to meet the growing demands from our customers while maintaining quality control and quality assurance and optimizing production and distribution costs.”

Omar Chemaly, GE Plant Manager, added: “It draws on industry best practices and GE’s own standards in environment, health and safety. The expansion will further build on our reputation in quality, safety and excellence.”

“It will also maintain and improve on our delivery time and logistics capabilities and enhance the efficiency of our customers’ operations.”
