Masdar Institute partners with University of Tokyo
The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology will host a joint seminar with the University of Tokyo to address the issue of regional security through improving management of water, energy and food nexus.
Abu Dhabi-based Masdar Institute of Science and Technology has announced a special joint seminar with the University of Tokyo focused on supporting regional security through water, energy and food management.
The seminar is to be held on the 3 March, 2015, at the Masdar Institute’s Center for Smart and Sustainable Systems (iSmart).
The seminar titled Nexus of Energy-Security and Water-Energy-Food will focus on the join research and symposia between the two academic institutions. It will include the exchange of research materials and publications on the topic.
Additionally, the seminar will also highlight the role of the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) in helping Emirati students from the Masdar Institute in securing work internships in Japan. The program is sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
Dr Fred Moavenzadeh, President, Masdar Institute, said, "The seminar with The University of Tokyo reflects the long-term collaboration in strategic areas between two world-class research-based institutions.
“The discussions will bring out the extent of research conducted by faculty and students in the interconnectivity of water, energy and food sectors and their role in the regional economic growth."
A number of research reports will be presented at the seminar, which will topics on electricity trading across the GCC, ‘feed-in-tariff’ schemes, as well as case study projects in South America and Asian countries.
