Tata Motors has launched its Prima truck range in the UAE.

The Indian automaker unveiled its Prima 4438S 4x2 tractor head and 4038K 6x4 construction tipper in front of Emirati customers at Dubai’s Meydan Hotel.

The launch party was organised in conjunction with United Diesel and Dalma Motors, the authorised Tata dealers for Dubai and Abu Dhabi, respectively.

“The launch of the Tata Prima brand in the UAE is an important milestone in Tata Motors’ continued expansion in this market and the GCC region,” commented Ravindra Pisharody, executive director of Tata’s Commercial Vehicles Business Unit.

“[The] Tata Prima brand is shaped by technology, knowhow, and expertise from across the globe. The range being launched today is world-class in every sense, giving UAE customers competitive business advantages, with the trusted credentials of the Tata Motors brand,” he added.

The Prima 4438S 4x2 tractor head sports a 380 hp Cummins engine, a nine-speed Eaton transmission system, and a top speed of 110 km/h. The Prima 4038k 6x4 tipper, meanwhile, sports the same engine and gearbox, and will be available in the UAE from $81,400 (AED299,000).

The Prima models have been developed by Tata Motors’ subsidiary, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles (TDCV). The manufacturer has dubbed its Prima models ‘world trucks’, owing to their international influences. The cabs, for example, were designed in Italy, the chassis in Mexico, the sheet-metal dies came from Japan and Korea, and the robotic-weld line is Swedish-made.

Commenting on the relationships enjoyed by the manufacturer and its UAE dealers, R T Wasan, head of international business at Tata’s Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, said: “We cherish our partnership with both United Diesel and Dalma Motors. Both companies are major players in the automotive scene here in the UAE, with proven strengths and experience in the commercial vehicle market.

“Over the years, both these partnerships have been set us on the path of excellent aftersales customer support, and [have] geared us up to deliver a high-quality experience and a unique value proposition to our customers in the UAE,” he concluded.
