Thales extends Dubai Metro contract for five years
Company inks deal with RTA and Serco to continue work on Dubai's driveless Metro system
Thales has inked a five-year maintenance support contract for the Dubai Metro with the RTA and Serco, extending its service package for the world’s longest driverless public transport system.
The company has provided support services for the Metro since 2009 including signaling, supervision, telecommunications, security and ticketing systems. In a statement, the company said “the team will deliver efficient, competitive and sustainable services while ensuring the highest levels of passenger safety and comfort. Local experts will be supported by Thales’s worldwide expertise when resolving critical issues.”
Regionally, Thales has also been awarded contracts for work on the Makkah Metro system, and is providing a European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 system on the North-South Railway line that will connect Riyadh with the northern industrial centres in Saudi Arabia.
