NREC appoints Huey on $1bn Reem Mall project
Ex-Majid Al Futtaim shopping centres developer to help deliver huge new Abu Dhabi mall
Kuwait’s National Real Estate Company has appointed Cecil Huey as a senior development advisor to its $1bn Reem Mall project in Abu Dhabi.
Huey will be responsible for delivering key elements of the mall's development and delivery. He has 25 years' experience in the industry and joins following a recent spell as senior director of development for the shopping centre division of Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim Properties, where he was responsible for the development of new regional centres in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
He has also previously worked on major retail projects in the US, Russia, Germany, Scotland and Spain, including Xanadu, which was the first European centre with a snow park.
Huey said: “The Reem Mall will be a truly unique and much needed addition to Reem Island and the wider Abu Dhabi communities and I’m excited to be involved with such an ambitious project."
Reem Mall is being managed by UK-based construction and consultancy company Mace, while Abu Dhabi-based Dewan Architects + Engineers is carrying out the design work.
