GENAVCO to float tender for UAE workshop contract
UAE-headquartered equipment dealer, GENAVCO, expects its new 145,000m2 Dubai workshop to become operational during the second half of 2016
GENAVCO has revealed that it is ready to float the tender for its new 145,000m2 Dubai workshop.
The UAE-based equipment dealer told PMV that the huge aftersales facility has now been designed, and it is on the hunt for contractors to begin construction.
The company expects that the workshop, situated in Al Quoz industrial area, will become operational during the second half of next year.
“The facility will be used to support all our brands. It’s going to be 145,000m2 – four times the size of a soccer field,” explained Asif Sayeed Khan, division manager for GENAVCO’s Equipment Business Unit.
“It will be located in Al Quoz industrial area. The architectural and MEP designs have been finalised. We’re now at the stage of floating the tender for contractors. We’re ready to invite companies to bid for the job,” he added.
The facility will replace GENAVCO’s existing workshop for Dubai. In addition to offering extra space for the dealer’s aftersales activities, it will provide easier access for vehicles visiting the site.
“This will be a very big facility; approximately double the size of our existing Dubai workshop,” revealed Khan.
“We will move out from our existing facility in Dubai, which is not in the ideal place to conduct these activities as it’s in the middle of the city,” he pointed out.
Khan predicts that GENAVCO once the contractor has been selected, the Al Quoz aftersales facility will take just over a year to come online.
“We are expecting that it will take approximately a year and a quarter to finish the project,” he told PMV.
“It should become operational during the second half of 2016,” he concluded.
