GEZE fits door systems to ADNOC's future HQ

The German manufacturer of window and door systems will install its technology as part of the construction process for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s headquarters.

Following the start of construction on its new headquarters, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has contracted GEZE to provide door closer technology and automated door systems. The German brand will equip the 77 storey structure with 2,500 door closers from its boxer series and 120 large automatic sliding doors with power drives.

GEZE’s door closers will be integrated during the construction process and will work in unison with the structure’s fire safety systems. Similarly, the company’s automated doors will be connected to the building’s infrastructure, allowing door functions to be monitored and modified remotely.

ADNOC’s upcoming 324 metres HQ, which is slated for completion by 2020, is expected to become the second tallest building in Abu Dhabi. It will be second to the Burj Mohammed bin Rashid, a 381-metre high and 88 storey structure expected for completion in late-2015.

The office complex has been designed by US architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK). Its prominent works include the National Air and Space Museum in US, as well as the Tokyo Telecom Center in Japan. The building will consist of a courtyard, museum and an underground car park connect via tunnel. The total project value is approximately $490mn.
