Parsons appoints Middle East managing director

Jaafar Hillawi returns to firm where he served for 20 years from 1976-1996

Parsons has brought in Jaafar Hillawi as a senior vice president and managing director of its environment and infrastructure business unit for its Middle East and Africa region.

He has more than 40 years of experience in the design and build of oil & gas facilities and infrastructure projects. He had previously worked for Parsons for a 20-year period from 1976-1996, including spells in Saudi Arabia working at Yanbu Industrial City and Jizan Military City for the Ministry of Defense.

Most recently, he managed operations in the region for URS Corporation, which was recently acquired by Aecom in a $6bn deal.

Mr. Hillawi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Tufts University in Massachusetts. He is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Virginia Grebbien, Parsons Group president, said: “Jaafar has extensive experience in the oil and gas, water, and industrial markets in the Middle East and Africa. We know that his expertise and knowledge will help Parsons to achieve its strategic objectives in this region."
