Oman’s biggest indoor theme park is expected to be completed by 2017, according to the promoters.

Majarat Oman, a $120 million project to be built over an area of 25,000m2 at Al Sawadi Beach Resort, will cater for 2,500 to 3,000 visitors a day when it is fully operational, Syed Asad Ali of Arab Malaysia Development Company, told the Times of Oman.

The theme park, located 45 minutes from Muscat, is described as a futuristic, alien themed, indoor park catering all family entertainment.

“This project is going to change the landscape of domestic tourism in Oman,” said Asad Ali.

He said the design of the project is completed and awaiting approval, with construction expected to be completed by Q3 this year.

Australian theme park consultant, Sanderson group, will take a 51% equity stake in Majarat Oman, according to Times of Oman.
