The award for Hospitality Project of the Year at the Construction Week Oman 2015 Awards was given to government-owned tourism developer Omran for the Atana Musandam resort, which recently became the second LEED-certified project in the Sultanate.

The project won out over another delivering staff accommodation for the Kempinski Hotel by developer Oman Accommodation Development Services.

Omran's MEP manager Abdullah Ahmed said it was "absolutely great" to win the prize.

"We are very happy about it. We worked very hard," he said.

He added that it had been able to achieve the LEED certification "because this project has been built to match the surrounding environment".

"Most of the material came locally and we have been resourceful."

Architectural engineer Muyasser Ali Al Kumzari added that the project had become an asset not only to the tourism sector in Oman's northern enclave but to the wider community as a whole.

The Construction Week Oman 2015 Awards took place at the Muscatt Grand Hyatt on 30 March.

The awards were sponsored by platinum sponsor Aecom, gold sponsors Famco, Oman Electromechanical Company and Logical Decking, category sponsors CCC, Services & Trade Co and Alemco Zawawi, and by aluminium extruder Napco.
