Designer developments

Nothing is surprising when it comes to the originality of interior designers today, especially where the Middle East is concerned.

Nothing is surprising when it comes to the originality of interior designers today, especially where the Middle East is concerned.

So, it is no surprise that new trends in interior design often come from fashion trends - we'd all like for this season's latest colours and boldest patterns to waltz straight off the catwalk, leaving a mark on our furniture, curtains, walls, and for those of you who are daring, perhaps even the floors!

Well, I have good news for the fashion conscious - this idea, is not far from reality.

There are many collaborations between famous clothing designers and interior designers, all of which are exploring new corners of creativity for commercial properties. The Pallazzo Versace hotel, Fendi Casa and the Giorgio Armani Hotel - all based in Dubai, are just a few examples of the most recent fashion focused building icons.

The latest in this fashion-slash-furnishing trend however, is the signing of a deal between Dubai Infinity Holdings and designer Karl Lagerfeld to design haute homes on The World's, Isla Moda.

"Dubai is a fashion bud on the verge of blossoming into the next fashion hub of the world...it is a perfect place for aesthetic, fashion and design to flourish... and I intend on driving the island to high style stardom,"? said Lagerfeld.

So, with the recent launching of the world's first island dedicated to designer developments here in Dubai, could there be any creative room left for interior designers? Of course there is.

Now, I don't know about you, but I can't help but think - 'What's next??'
