Bids for the main construction package for UAE-based Al Fara'a Properties' US $272 million (AED1 billion) Burj Al Fara'a commercial tower will be invited in December.

An award can be expected by February 2009.

The tower will be built in the commercial district of Jumeirah Village in Dubai.

Construction is expected to start in January next year and is scheduled for completion by December 2011.

The company plans to break ground on the 38-storey tower in December.

Conser Engineering Consultant Services is the consultant on the project.

"The launch of Burj Al Fara'a is aimed at leveraging the enormous demand for high-technology commercial spaces in Dubai," said Natasha Gangaramani, director, Al Fara'a Properties.

"We will be working towards the timely delivery of this project, which will be constructed using the highest industry standards to supply the booming demand and fittingly represent the philosophy of our organisation."

Recent studies have shown that Dubai ranks second to Moscow in terms of the amount of commercial floor space that is being constructed.

And with the limited stock of quality office space in Dubai, it is of no surprise that such massive commercial developments are being undertaken in the emirate at present.

According to the company, construction will be undertaken in accordance to a rigid timetable, which will ensure that the project will be delivered within its stipulated delivery schedule.

According to the company, the tender dates and the awarding of contracts will depend on the timely delivery of the plot of land.

Nakheel owns Jumeirah Village and it is expected to hand over the plot of land to Al Fara'a Properties by the 31st of August this year.
