Johnson Controls to supply Bahrain Bay chillers

US firm Johnson Controls has signed a deal to supply 18 York-branded YK – K7 water-cooled centrifugal chillers to the Bahrain Bay project in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

US firm Johnson Controls has signed a deal to supply 18 York-branded YK – K7 water-cooled centrifugal chillers to the Bahrain Bay project in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The order was placed by Unicorp International Contracting, EPC contractor for the US$2.5 billion Bahrain Bay project. “The selection of YORK chillers came about after weeks of detailed and rigorous technical evaluation and comparison among the manufacturers of such type of chillers,� said Amin Ashkar, Unicorp project director.

A spokesperson for Johnson said that the order was the beginning of a new trend of using seawater for large district cooling plants in the Middle East.
