Emirates Business Woman of the Year Maryam Al Bannai has announced that there has never been a better time for Emirati women in the business and corporate world.

“Businesses in the Middle East are increasingly more open to harnessing the skills of Emirati women, and their experience is playing a key role in the growth and expansion of the region, said Al Bannai, vice president of corporate support services, Dubai World Trade Centre.

Al Bannai credited HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, for promoting the importance of women.

The number of women in the UAE national workforce has risen to 22.4%, up from the World Bank estimate of 13% in 2004.
