Nakheel approves The World floating island project

Nakheel's first ever floating islands will be constructed on the firm's The World master-development

The World is set to receive its first-ever floating islands.

Nakheel has grantted Oqyana Real Estate and Amrillarah Private Islands permits to develop a project, called Floating Private Islands, on its The World Islands site. 

The company announced, Oqyana Real Estate inked a deal with Amrillarah Private Islands earlier this year to develop a series of Floating Private Islands within Oqyana World First development at The World Islands in Dubai. 

Nakheel, the master-developer of The World Islands announced on Monday (15 June, 2015) that it has granted the project all necessary permits to carry out work on the development. 

Zeyad Abdullatif Janahi, chairman of Oqyana Real Estate, said: "Oqyana World First is testament to our vision of pioneering unique real estate developments that genuinely break new ground, and the cooperation with Amillarah Private Islands underlines our vision.

Oqyana World First will comprise an archipelago of artificial islands, together forming the continent of Australasia in The World development, and is set to feature residential, hospitality and retail elements.
