Alamein Hotel in Cairo has been revamped as part of the US $1.74 billion (AED6.39 billion) Marassi resort project. The renovation work, carried out by Emaar Misr, has been done in five weeks.

Part of the work was to add modern amenities to the 50-year-old hotel. Emaar Misr for Development S.A.E chief executive officer Mr Sameh Muhtadi stated: "With the integration of the Alamein Hotel into Marassi, we are already creating a tourism growth module that will further derive impetus as the homes and resorts in the mega-project are handed over as per schedule." The hotel, which has 70 rooms, 24 chalets and four villas, has had a new lighting system introduced and a new entrance built.

Further work on the Marassi site is ongoing; site grading has been completed and construction of a beach clubhouse is underway. The community will feature a marina, golf course, town centre and several hotels.
