Saudi Arabia's Jeddah Municipality has mandated 14-day advanced written notices by contractors before moving heavy equipment on the city's roads.

The municipality has included the condition as a clause in the project agreements of contractors, which will have to name the vehicle they intend to move, as well as the route they plan to use for the same, local daily Arab News reported.

The process of clearance may require re-distribution of loads or items between trucks.

Violating firms will have to pay for flouting the rule, or causing damage to the road, the report added.
