Worker dies at TDIC's Louvre Abu Dhabi site in UAE
No details about the identity or cause of death were announced in the statement sent out by developer firm TDIC
Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), the developer of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, said that one of the workers on the museum project has died, making it the first death on the project.
TDIC said the worker passed in June 2015, but did not provide any further details about the worker's identity or cause of death.
A statement by the Abu Dhabi-based developer said the death is the first fatal incident on the site, where an average 5,500 workers are employed, Arabian Business reported.
Construction is progressing at the site of Louvre Abu Dhabi, with the dome successfully lifted and placed into its final position late last year.
Louvre Abu Dhabi’s construction was awarded to an Arabtec-led joint venture with Constructora San Jose SA and Oger Abu Dhabi LLC in 2013.
Designed by the Pritzker Prize winning architect Jean Nouvel, Louvre Abu Dhabi will feature a permanent gallery; a temporary gallery; and, a children’s museum, besides other attractions.
