HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced that the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) will develop the Al Hisn Island project.

The leisure and tourist attraction project is located on a reclaimed island that was built as a residential area, facing the Flag Square in Dibba Al Hisn, which was developed by Shurooq.

The new development will feature a water canal, a host of restaurants and cafes, in addition to a movie theatre, children playgrounds and other amenities.

The project is currently in the design and planning phase.

Shurooq will announce further details about the project in the "near future", state agency WAM reported.
