Siemens awarded civil works contract in Iraq

Iraq's Ministry of Electricity announced it has signed a contract with Siemens to receive processing equipment, civil works, and the implementation of transmission stations in Baghdad

Iraq's Ministry of Electricity announced it has signed a contract with Siemens to receive processing equipment, civil works, and the implementation of four 132kV transmission stations in the country's capital, Baghdad. 

Director-General of the directorate for projects of power transmission, Sabah Kadhim Akrb said civil works will be carried out for four stations already present at the service, which will be rehabilitated under the contract. 

New stations will be constructed as alternatives to the old plants, including Kadhimiya, Al-Ghazali, Baghdad al-Jadida and al- Yarmouk.

Shafaq News reported the 132kV stations will be gas insulated.

Akrb added the contract will span 485 days, starting from the activation of the contract.
