Parsons wins Dubai Expo 2020 site supervision deal
Parsons' scope of work on the 438ha site includes infrastructure design and construction supervision, it has been revealed
US-based Parsons has announced it has been awarded the site-wide infrastructure design and construction supervision services contract for Expo 2020.
The Dubai Expo 2020 site is a 438ha landmark development consisting of multiple pavilions, souks, and entertainment venues.
Parsons’ scope of work will include designing, monitoring, managing, and delivering the project’s infrastructure, it said in a statement.
“We are excited that Parsons was selected by Expo 2020 Dubai to help deliver this first ever global showcase staged in the region. Our collective efforts will embody Dubai’s overall mission to spur innovation, opportunity, and connectivity,” said Gary Adams, Parsons Middle East Africa (MEA) president.
“Given the magnitude and distinctiveness of Dubai Expo 2020, this is a significant win for us and we are deeply committed to supporting Dubai with our global and local resources to provide a new level of sustainable design and operational services,” Todd Wager, Parsons Group president, added.
The value of the deal was not disclosed in the statement.
Parsons is already working on Dubai Roads and Transport Authority's Dubai Water Canal Project, where it is also providing infrastructure design services.
At its peak, the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibition site at Dubai Trade Centre-Jebel Ali is designed to accommodate up to 300,000 visitors, with average week-day attendance expected at 153,000.
Running October 2020 through April 2021, the Expo will launch the country’s Golden Jubilee celebration and serve as a springboard from which to inaugurate a progressive and sustainable vision for the coming decades.
