Bahrain PM launches causeway and tunnel projects

HH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has ordered the construction of a fourth causeway that will link Muharraq with the capital, Manama.

The causeway is set to connect North Busaiteen and Bahrain Bay.

Prince Khalifa also issued another order to construct a tunnel on Al Fateh Highway at Jufafir Interchange.

The tunnel is expected to to alleviate traffic congestion, especially of incoming traffic from north Manama towards Juffair.

Bahrain's Ministry of Works, municipalities and urban planning [bodies] have been appointed to oversee the projects, starting the implementation of both projects and with coordinating the necessary financial allocations.

The Prime Minister is said to have reviewed the projects blueprints, state newswire Bahrain News Agency reported.
