Oman Tender Board awards contracts worth $65.8m

At least six construction contracts were awarded following the Tender Board's 15th meeting for the year, including a deal for the construction of a sports stadium in Musandam's Khasab area

Oman's Tender Board awarded contracts worth $65.8m (OMR25.3m) following its 15th meeting for the year, held on Wednesday, 02 September, 2015. 

Construction contracts awarded include a $14.1m (OMR5.4m) deal for the construction of the administration building for the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. 

Also awarded was a contract, worth $6.7m (OMR2.6m), for landscaping and irrigation services at the Sultan Qaboos University. 

The landscaping contract will span the period between January 2016, and December 2019. 

A $19.4m (OMR7.5m) contract to upgrade the efficiency of Sinaw-Mahout-A'Duqm road's first part was also awarded, Oman News Agency reported. 

Another $1.2m (OMR465,848) deal was handed out for the construction of a building for the General Diwan of the Ministry of Tourism in Al Khuwair in the Governorate of Muscat. 

A sports stadium will also be constructed in Khasab's sports complex in Musandam, following the award of a $1.1m (OMR413,210) deal. 

The first part of a contract, worth $564,805 (OMR217,450), was awarded for the construction of tunnels at Al Batinah Road's third stage. 

The meeting was chaired by Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi al-Hraibi, chairman of the Tender Board.

No information was provided as to which companies were handed these deals.
